Abstract
Trace elements in sphalerite from different Pb-Zn hydrothermal deposits in Kosovo (e.g. Artana, Kizhnica, Drazhnje and Stan Terg) have been measured by LA-ICP-MS. These ore deposits are located within the Vardar Zone and have similar ore mineral composition, with Pb-Zn-Fe sulphides being the dominated ore minerals. Sphalerite from Artana is characterized by high Mn (>2 wt.%), Sn (6346 ppm), Ga (103 ppm) and Ag (24 ppm) contents. Sphalerite from Kizhnica is characterized by increased In values (492 ppm). Stan Terg sphalerite contains the same elements in the lattice, however, Cd, Cu, Sn and In are significantly lower than in other deposits. Sphalerite form Drazhnje is visible distinct with elevated Hg content (56 ppm), Sb (121 ppm), and the lowest In content (4 ppm). This may be caused by mixing fluids from the neighboring Lece ore complex.
