Abstract
Oxidation-reduction conditions are one of the most important factors affecting on the chemical composition of groundwater. The redox potential is an unstable parameter which measurement is required i.a. to determine curative properties of water. In a field practice this measurement is exacting, it should be conducted in situ, in a condition of limited contact with air, and referring the final result it is necessary to take into account the appropriate correction depending on the type of used electrodes and temperature. Properly determined redox potential can be used as an indicator of hydrogeochemical conditions and changes occurring in the system, an input information for geochemical calculations or a parameter helpful in assessing the quality of chemical analysis.
