Abstract

The radar interferometry technique is used in ground-based measurements of displacement. Due to the high frequency of observation and recording position of the observed points, it allows measurement both the low-frequency and fast-changing movements. The high resolution and accuracy of measurement make this technique an alternative to the currently used measurement methods - mainly classical surveying and sensor-based, which have different limitations and imperfections. The paper presents a practical application of the IBIS-S interferometric radar system in the field measurements and the comparison of its results with the reflectorless electronic distance-meter and accelerometer measurement results. The subject of observation was a steel railway bridge. One span of the bridge was observed with the use of the mentioned measuring techniques. Based on the measurement results the structure analysis can be carried out in terms of the structure displacement and vibration. The comparative tests enabled the verification of the radar interferometry technique abilities and the comparison to the currently used methods.
