Abstract
The study investigates the performance of an air-water heat pump integrated with a hybrid solar collector. Experiments were conducted for three irradiance levels (597.2 W/m², 725.4 W/m², and 861.2 W/m²) and five water flow rates (2 to 10 L/min) at an inlet air temperature of approximately 10°C. Results showed that the hybrid system improved COP, particularly at high irradiance levels and moderate flow rates (4–6 L/min). The highest COP increase of 27.1% occurred at 2 L/min under 861.2 W/m² but for 4 L/min it was possible to increase of COP by 25.4%. However, at low irradiance and high flow rates, efficiency gains diminished, sometimes falling below the baseline system’s performance. The findings highlight that optimizing flow rates and operating conditions is key to maximizing system efficiency.
