Abstract
Monitoring of marshalling yard capacity plays a key role in the development of digital railway. It is relevant to both the scientific research work and of the socio- economic environment. In this work, the SMART method was applied (S – Specific, M – Measurable, A – Achevable, R – Relevant, T – Time-bound). Its main objective is to identify accurate and real-world data (actual data) on the capacity of a marshalling yard. It concentrates on scientific research work in integration with practice at a real-life marshalling yard. Over a time horizon of one month. Based on the marshalling arrangement – odd. Attributes such as: number of railway tracks (track), geometrical layout of the railway road (parmanent way), control command and signaling equipments, layouts (arrangement) of marshalling yard railway tracks groups, railway rolling stock – rake of shunting wagons, marshalling automation and maintenance process – constitutes an intensification of capacity. Important in the technological process (engineering process) of the station's work. The realised work has a key role in the development of the digital railway, providing knowledge of the capacity of this type of freight station. The results of the work confirmed the intensity of the marshalling yard technological process on weekend days, especially on Sundays and consequently also on Mondays – accentuating the significant increase in work on these days. The result of this work has significant potential, identifying and providing accurate and real-world data on the operation of a real-life marshalling yard – the odd layout. It represents a progression in the socio-economic environment in the essentiality of the digitalisation environment.
