Abstract
This research is the starting point for the development of a new range of carbon materials for crystallizers, crucible products for the metallurgical industry, which will be characterized by a set of increased operational properties compared to those currently used. For comparative purposes investigation on the impact of wear of carbon products currently used during static and continuous melting and casting on the quality of the casts made of copper alloys was carried out. The cast products were tested in terms of surface quality and geometry, homogeneity of chemical composition, micro and macro structure as well as mechanical properties. Obtained research results show the need to work on the selection of a new group of materials for these applications in order to extend their lifetime and obtain high-quality cast products.
