Abstract
A novel concept of a three-beam antenna array operating in an octave frequency range is presented. In the proposed antenna array stable radiation patters across such a broad bandwidth is ensured by a frequency-dependent feeding network based on a broadband Butler matrix composed of tapered-line directional couplers. To achieve appropriate signal distribution across the desired frequency range additional directional filters have been implemented. Moreover, taper excitation across the antenna array has been ensured to lower the resulting sidelobes, what has been achieved by an increased number of radiating elements and additional power dividers. The developed concept has been verified by measurements of the antenna array operating in 2 – 4 GHz frequency range.
