Abstract
A concept of a feeding network that can be used for achieving multibeam radiation pattern in three-frequency ranges is proposed. The presented feeding network is based on a concept of a Butler matrix that smoothly changes its order from 2 x 2 to 8 x 8 across two-octave frequency range. As is shown it is possible two design a Butler matrix which operates at f 0 as 2 x 2 Butler matrix, subsequently it changes into 4 x 4 at 2f 0 , and finally changes into 8 x 8 at 4f 0 . It is also theoretically shown that such a network, when connected to broadband radiating elements spaced by 0.5 λ at 4f 0 allows for achieving multibeam radiation pattern over the entire two-octave frequency range. Moreover, at the three discrete frequency ranges, i.e.: f 0 , 2f 0 and 4f 0 it provides classic two, four and eight-beam radiation pattern.
