Abstract
A wideband six-port reflectometer composed of 4 × 4 Butler matrix and power detectors with no matching networks is proposed in this paper. In contrast to other solutions requiring a good impedance match of the power detectors, in the presented reflectometer the signals reflected from detectors are efficiently used to form a signal flow needed for a correct operation of the entire reflectometer. Hence, no matching networks are required, and a broadband operation can be realized easier than in other reported solutions. The proposed concept is verified experimentally by developing the reflectometer operating from 1 GHz to 5 GHz and performing reflection coefficient measurements. The obtained values are close to the ones measured using a commercial vector network analyzer.
