Streszczenie
Tematem artykułu jest dziedzina wiedzy zwana translacją automatyczną. Głównym celem translacji automatycznej jest opracowanie komputerowej realizacji wszystkich etapów procesu tłumaczenia z jednego języka naturalnego na inny. Idea translacji automatycznej jest prawie równie stara jak wynalazek samego komputera. Jednakże po pierwszych spektakularnych sukcesach w tej dziedzinie, szybko okazało się, że translacja automatyczna jest zagadnieniem o wiele trudniejszym i o wiele ciekawszym niż pierwotnie sądzono. Autor artykułu skupił swą uwagę na zasadniczych problemach, które sprawiają najwięcej kłopotów podczas próby zautomatyzowania procesu translacji. W dalszej części artykułu autor zamieścił projekt interaktywnego systemu translacji automatycznej, który łączy w sobie dwie popularne w tej dziedzinie koncepcje: translację automatyczną opartą na przykładach oraz translację automatyczną opartą na wiedzy o języku. Zasady działania zaproponowanego systemu translacji automatycznej zostały zilustrowane na licznych przykładach tłumaczeń z rozmaitych języków obcych na język polski.
Abstract
The topic of the paper are some selected problems of machine translation. The goal of machine translation is to automate all part of the process of translating from one human language to another. The idea of machine translation is almost as old as the invention of computer. Soon after the first spectacular successes in this field, the scientists realised that machine translation is a far more complex and interesting subject than they had thought before. In the paper the most important problems and difficulties concerned with machine translation are thoroughly discussed. In the further part of the paper the author proposed the new approach to machine translation, which joins two popular concepts in the field of machine translation: example based machine translation and knowledge based machine translation. In the paper the developed machine translation interactive system which combines these two concepts is described. The results of experiments of machine translation from different languages into Polish are also presented.
