Abstract
The corrosion chemistry of spinel-containing alumina refractory castable was studied using slags with different CaO/SiO2 ratios. A static coating method was applied for this purpose. The corrosion index IC for each cross-sectioned perpendicularly to the slag-refractory interface sample was determined. According to the results obtained, the IC values were as follows 3.9 % (slag S5.5), 6.4 % (slag S3.5) and 17.3 % (slag S1.1). It has been found that the extent of the slag attack increases with decreasing ratio of CaO/SiO2.
