Abstract

In this paper the influence of selected investment casting parameters on the microstructure of Inconel 713C nickel-based superalloy have been investigated. The temperature inside the shell mould was precisely measured during the investment casting of thin-walled elements. The primary microstructure was characterized by relatively large local inhomogeneities inside interdendritic spaces relative to dendrite cores. As a consequence of alloying elements segregation during solidification, constituents like eutectic γ/γ' islands, phases rich in molybdenum, zirconium, and niobium were observed. The main goal of the research was to show the correlation between selected investment casting parameters and the primary microstructure of nickel-based superalloy. © 73rd World Foundry Congress "Creative Foundry", WFC 2018 - Proceedings.All Rights Reserved.
