Abstract
The separation of three types of coal (31, 34.2 and 35, according to Polish nomenclature) because of their particle size and density was done. Then, the combustion heat, ash contents, sulfur contents, volatile parts contents and moisture in individual fractions were measured. By means of statistical methods mutual factors influencing on investigated coal properties and explaining their changeability in at least 85% were selected for each type of coal and each created fraction. The amount of factors necessary for considered coal types were compared for both particle size and particle density. On the basis of obtained results the properties were divided into subsets having mutual factors and the results were compared with ones obtained by means of other methods.
