Abstract
Minimizing the vibration, noise and shock is one of main tasks in designing rotating machinery, such as wind turbines, pumps, fans and centrifuges. A principal cause of vibration is unbalance of rotors due to either fabrication inaccuracies or operational factors. Unbalance leads to excessive wear on bearings and causes premature failures. Most common method to return the rotating element to a balanced condition is applying corrective masses at certain locations [1, 2]. Proposed methodology is based on unique Balancing System utilizing fluid as a corrective mass. In this work, we present a simulation of fluid flow through a designed device of the active balancing of rotors with correction mass (liquid). Proposed finite element calculations are based on model of ring with internal chambers, filled with fluid in controlled sequence.
