Abstract
This deliverable provides a comprehensive report about the implementation of the RESCUE message transfer protocols in a Software-Defined Radio (SDR) environment and presents the results from the validation through GNU Radio simulations. The implementation covers MAC operations, end-to-end ARQ and routing. For these components, experiments using the SDR environment were carried out, considering the RESCUE toy scenarios, different relay placements and forwarding strategies as well as under saturation and non-saturation conditions. The validation results give insights into the potential performance benefits of the LOTF concept at higher layers and quantify these benefits for simplified scenarios in a simulated GNU Radio setting. Compared to the simulation-based performance evaluation of the message transfer protocols carried out in the previous phase, the implementation and the validation exhibit a higher degree of realism and model accuracy. Further experiments will be carried out with overthe-air trials.
