Abstract
The study concerns nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and well log analysis of Rotliegend sandstones from 4 boreholes located within the Polish Permian Basin. As a basis for this research, simple petrographic and diagenetic observation under transmitted light were performed, as well as granulometric analysis. Research aimed to characterise Rotliegend sandstones in terms of reservoir properties and mineral composition. Samples were represented by moderately to well sorted quartz and subarcosic arenites deposited within aeolian conditions. Qualitative and quantitative mineralogical composition of rock samples was determined in details by microscopic and XRD analysis. Reservoir potential of sandstones was obtained from NMR data. Analysis of well logs focused on differentiation of reservoir parameters and mineralogical composition of rocks in sandstone profiles. Analysed samples of Rotliegend sandstones were characterised by similar mineral composition and by poor reservoir properties. Those parameters did not show significant variability in well profiles. In two wells zones with probable variability of sandstone deposit types were distinguished.
