Abstract
Modern technologies of the manufacturing of cold-rolled flat products made of aluminium and its alloys are based on the raw materials produced by the continuous casting technology. One of the more frequently used integrated production processes is the method of twin roll casting (TRC). In TRC liquid metal flows into the space formed by the two driven cylindershaped crystallizers, solidifies and next is deformed to create of several millimetres thickness with strip. Thanks to this, it is possible to eliminate hot rolling from the process. The raw material from TRC line in form of strip can be subjected directly to cold rolling process. This paper presents the results of the influence of cold deformation applied by rolling and compression on the mechanical properties changes of selected aluminium alloys of 1XXX, 3XXX and 8XXX series, produced in the laboratory conditions with TRC method. Furthermore the rolling loads and the basic mechanical properties, determined in a uniaxial tensile test for sheets with a final thickness of 1,5 mm after rolling were examined. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.
