Abstract
The problem of thermodynamic properties modelling in liquid metals' solutions containing intermetallic compounds was analysed in this paper. Known literature models (IAS, Jordan's, Alger's, etc.) give various results for the same alloy. In this work these models are used to calculate the activity of the intermetallic compound HgIn formed in the indium-mercury system. Based on the principles of thermodynamics the relationship between the intermetallic compound activities and activities of basic metal components was obtained. Results received after the comparison of compound's activities calculated from each model with those, from the theoretical analysis are very interesting and could be used to estimate the quality of literature models, which describe the thermodynamic properties of associated solutions.
