Abstract
The main aim of the present work is a detailed analysis of the material flow during the innovative incremental forging process. Description of the investigated incremental forging technology as well as details of the developed numerical models are presented within the paper. First, a simple model of a single anvil indentation was created to evaluate material behavior under different forging depths. Then a complex multi scale numerical model of incremental forging press based on the digital material representation (DMR) approach was established. Finally, obtained results in the form of strain distribution both at the macro and micro scales are compared with results from conventional forging model. Copyright © 2014 MS&T14®.
