Abstract
A novel concept of a broadband single-layer magic-T realization has been proposed. It has been shown that the left-handed (LH) transmission line sections can be used for increase of the coupled-line section coupling coefficient as well as for obtaining appropriate differential phase response. Moreover, a very compact and easy to manufacture design is obtained. The presented concept has been verified by the design and measurements of circuit operating within 0.9 1.6 GHz frequency range having coupling imbalance of 0.6 dB and maximum phase error of 70 degrees.
