Abstract
Samples of chromite grains were collected from Bayanlig (Mongolia), Lipowienki (Ukraine), Tapadla (Poland) and the Troodos ophiolite (Cyprus). EDS analyses were performed on different zones of chromites. The chemical composition of chromite cores, as well as Cr-spinel and magnetite rims in grains are compared. Cr content in chromite and others spinels from barren ophiolites are significantly lower in comparison to those from podiform deposits.
