Abstract
Properly managed and shaped, the real estate market can be an important element in environmental policy. Legislative authority through legislation of relevant legislative acts relating to the real estate market can have a strong impact on the development of environmental policy. The enactment of local legislation should be preceded by obtaining detailed information on the property market and socio-economic indicators. The authors of the work presented a model procedure of gathering data. The data from various institutions were verified by conducting more than 1,000 surveys in a representative group. In addition, the results were subject to public discussion. In the 38-thousand town students constitute a comparable community depending on the year from 10 to 25% of all residents. Such a large group of potential tenants strongly influences the development of the local real estate market and the issue of the environment protection. The data are a good material for analytical decision-making, which consequently may affect the development of economic instruments in the protection of the environment.
