Abstract
An electromechanical transducer and a linear MR damper powered by the transducer are the key components of a smart MR damper device with power generation. A cogging force, inherent in all ferromagnetic-permanent magnet systems, will also arise in the transducer. Its occurrence negatively impacts on the transducer performance, and hence efforts are made to reduce it. The paper summarises the results of numerical data and laboratory testing of two design options of a transducer, with different parameters of the magnetic circuit. The influence of these parameters on the cogging force is demonstrated.
