Abstract

Reclamation activities and processes are often carried out on soilless formations to produce new fully matured soil. This, however, takes centuries and only then can soil assessment indices be fully applied. We proposed using the annual increase of total nitrogen content in soilless formations as a criterion to assess soil-forming activity, to differentiate accumulation of organic matter, and to allow classification of dynamic development of soil formation. The amount of accumulated nitrogen depends on the potential properties of the soil formed, but mostly on the applied reclamation methods.
