Abstract
This paper shows algorithm of automatic rotor bar diagnostics. Algorithm is based on convolution of measured startup current waveform and a special signal. This signal is called "wavelet". "Wavelet" is generated for each startup (basing on startup time) and should be similar to searched diagnostic signal. When startup current contains diagnostic signal - "wavelet" match well this component - and returned waveform (which is a product of convolution) has clear maximum in second half of startup. Height of this maximum could be measure of rotor asymmetry. Article shows results of measurements and calculations made on a few laboratory engines with different level of rotor asymmetry. To obtain different times of startups machines were supplied by different voltage level. There is also short comparison with older diagnostic method based on low pass filtering. Algorithm appear to be more useful for automatic diagnosis and especially for machines with short startup.
