Pomiary tarcia wewnętrznego zastosowano do badania przemiany austenitu w martenzyt. Spektrum tłumienia rejestrowano po ochłodzeniu do temperatury ciekłego azotu. Do rejestracji przemiany martenzytycznej wykorzystano zmianę wysokości piku Snoeka-Köstera (S-K).
Abstract
The magnetometric and internal friction measurements of the decomposition of retained austenite brought about by low-temperature bainite transformation, as well as the microstructure obtained due to the transformation are presented in the paper. The data included herein indicates that the bainite transformation taking place at low temperatures, or at higher temperatures over shorter periods, produces two types of austenite with varying stability. The less stable austenite disintegrates when cooled to -196°C, while the second - only when heated up to 560°C. The first type is present in the form of large grains, while the second is more scattered and located between the bainite areas. Internal friction measurements were applied to detect of transformation retained austenite to martensite. Damping spectra vs. temperature were recorded on samples after cooling to temperature of liquid nitrogen. Evolution of Snoek-Köster (S-K) relaxation peak high allows identification of martensite transformation. The S-K relaxation in bcc metals is generated by the movement of dislocation segment dragging along with the Cottrell cloud of foreign interstitial atoms - FIAs (N,C). Mobile dislocation can be generated by cold-work at room temperature, or/and either by phase transformation. The relaxation strength of the S-K peak increases proportionally to the density of dislocation segments involved in S-K relaxation. Internal friction measurements in Snoek relaxation temperature range give information about the concentration of free FIAs in solid solution.
