Abstract
This paper examines the transformative potential of hydrogen fuel in transportation, covering its diverse types—green, grey, blue, yellow, pink, turquoise, and black/brown—and its production methods, including steam methane reforming, electrolysis, gasification, and pyrolysis. It also explores storage solutions, such as compressed, liquid, and materials-based systems, that are critical for widespread adoption. Strategic initiatives, such as Poland’s hydrogen strategy and EU policies, including the Green Deal and Fit for 55, are highlighted for advancing hydrogen infrastructure and reducing emissions. By addressing production, storage, and policy, the paper underscores hydrogen’s role in enabling a sustainable, low-carbon transportation future.
