Abstract
The new optical fiber construction for an ASE application with a multi-ring core doping profile co-doped with Tm3+-Ho3+ is presented. The NAcore/cladd = 0.236, NAcladd/polymer = 0.48 was achieved for the 22/150 µm (core/cladding diameter) of optical fiber construction. The measured Tm2O3 and Ho2O3 concentrations were 0.2 mol% and 0.05 mol%, respectively. The ultrabroad ASE emission spectra with the λmax (peak wavelength) and the spectral bandwidth (-3 dB) of 243 nm (1777 – 2020 nm) and 210 µW is presented. The presented fiber design showed novel possibilities to shape optical and emission properties, which is the interest of new construction of optical fibers operating in the eye-safe spectral range, such as lasers and broadband sources used in remote sensing, LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), medical diagnostics and treatment, metrology systems, and space telecommunications.
