Abstract

The paper presents the results of research influence of laser shot peening (LSP) on the surface characteristics improvement of the as-built AlMgSi alloy obtained by Powder Bed Fusion of Metals Using a Laser (PBF-LB/M). In the LPS process, the surface of a component was bombarded with laser “shots” in the air and water under controlled conditions. The samples roughness, microhardness, microstructure were analyzed using optical profilometer, Vickers hardness tester and SEM. The studies showed the influence of the environment (air, water) on the possibility of controlling the properties of the surface layer of the AlSiMg alloy using LSP, on samples produced by the PBF-LB/M method.
