Abstract
Catalysts containing the metals lanthanum and cerium were prepared by incorporating them onto a natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) matrix using ultrasonic treatment. The application of ultrasound significantly reduced the time required for zeolite modification, enhancing its efficiency as a catalytic material. The resulting catalysts were thoroughly characterized in terms of their chemical composition, phase composition, structure, and microstructure. The zeolite-based catalysts were subsequently employed in the catalytic conversion of glucose. Their catalytic performance and reusability were evaluated over three consecutive reaction cycles. After each cycle, the catalysts were subjected to high-temperature treatment to restore their activity. The glucose conversion process was carried out at 250 °C for 5 h. The highest selectivity toward lactic acid, 35.7 %, was observed using the La-CLI-DIR catalyst in the first cycle, whereas the highest selectivity toward levulinic acid, 59.5 %, was achieved using the same catalyst (La-CLI-DIR) during the third cycle of operation.
