Abstract
Adaptive video streaming employs bitrate adaptation algorithms to balance video quality and playback stability under dynamic network conditions. However, the network metrics do not capture user-perceived Quality of Experience (QoE) is a critical factor in video streaming. This paper presents a hybrid model of video QoE in the DASH domain by integrating objective measurements with crowd-sourced and laboratory-based subjective studies. The relationship between key network metrics, including bitrate, rebuffering, quality switching, and latency, and perceived video quality is analyzed across various bandwidth conditions. The evaluation of these studies reveals inconsistencies between objective metrics and subjective opinions, highlighting the need for integrated evaluation methodologies to ensure reliable QoE assessment in adaptive video streaming systems.
