Abstract
This article investigates spatial relationships between the density of alcohol retail outlets and the frequency of police and municipal interventions involving intoxicated individuals in Kraków, Poland. Using 2019 data and applying both global models (ZINB) and local spatial regression models (GWR), the study identifies a strong positive correlation, particularly in central urban areas with high outlet concentrations. The spatial analysis reveals localized patterns of alcohol-related incidents and highlights urban zones especially vulnerable to social disturbances. Results suggest that limiting alcohol availability may serve as an effective tool to reduce public order incidents. The study contributes to urban policy discourse by framing alcohol outlet saturation as a spatially embedded risk factor and underscores the value of spatial modelling in addressing complex socio-urban challenges, while also acknowledging its methodological limitations and the importance of integrating social and infrastructural variables.
