Abstract
In this work a new one-port tapered rectangular waveguide (RW) sensor is employed for determining the dielectric constant of different vegetable oil samples. The proposed design uses the phase of the input reflection coefficient to sense the relative dielectric permittivity of the vegetable oil sample under test (VOSUT), while the t a nδ loss factor of the VOSUT is obtained through the magnitude of the sensor's input reflection coefficient. The theoretical response of the sensor is in good agreement with electromagnetic simulations. The dielectric characteristics of different VOSUT are measured using the suggested sensor design at 4.7 GHz.
