Abstract
The article discusses the potential of using electrooculogram (EOG) to control mechanical devices, including prostheses, wheelchairs, and robotic systems. The EOG signal, which is a recording of the electrical activity of the eyeballs, is beautiful in the context of assistive technologies due to its low invasiveness and the availability of signals independent of muscle activity. The research results indicate the usefulness of EOG in systems supporting people with movement disabilities while emphasizing the need for further research on improving the accuracy and reliability of the systems. In particular, researchers highlighted the potential of combining EOG with machine learning technologies, which could significantly enhance the efficiency and personalization of such solutions.
