Abstract
This article presents an investigation of the electromagnetic properties of construction materials for mm-wave frequencies, aimed at enhancing wireless channel models for future networks. The study includes an outdoor measurement campaign conducted at the Universitat Politècnica de València, focusing on reflection loss across five common building materials: concrete, brick, glass, composite material, and concrete tiles. Using a vector network analyzer and horn antennas, measurements were performed in the 26–36 GHz range for various angles of departure and arrival. The findings provide empirical data to improve deterministic channel modeling techniques, enabling more accurate simulations for urban environments and high-frequency communication systems. Future directions for extending this research are also discussed.
