Abstract
The accuracy of geo-electrical sounding models can be influenced by the chosen interpretation method. This study compares the accuracy of three commonly used methods for interpreting vertical electrical sounding (VES) data, focusing on the Arak aquifer in Markazi province, Iran. The methods evaluated include the master curves, IX1D software, and IPI2win program. The results from these methods were compared and validated against real field data from drilled water wells. The analysis showed that both the master curves and IX1D software produced results closely matching the field data, whereas the IPI2win program was less accurate, especially for deeper water-bearing layers. Additionally, a high-porosity, water-bearing geological zone was identified in the eastern and northern parts of the study area, suggesting an optimal site for future well drilling. This methodology can be applied to the interpretation of VES data in groundwater exploration and characterization.
