Abstract

In this work an additional impulsive pilot is added to zero-padded orthogonal time-frequency-space modulation (ZP-OTFSM) which makes possible a simple estimation of the transmission channel with high Doppler effect. The new ZPP-OTFSM method is described and tested by simulation in two real-world transmission scenarios: high-Doppler 3GPP EVA channel and high speed train (HST) channel. Several known channel equalizers, designed originally for ZP-OTFSM, are applied to the ZPP-OTFSM. Results are compared to the OFDM technology. It is shown that the proposed ZPP-OTFSM transmission scheme outperforms the OFDM system when used in highly mobile telecommunication channels.
