Abstract
A novel, simple, and highly sensitive voltammetry method for antidepressant drug - mirtazapine - determination was successfully developed. The proposed sensor is based on a modification layer consisting of carbon black nanoparticles (CB), applied on the glassy carbon electrode surface. This paper presents the possibilities of carbon black as a substitute for other carbon materials commonly used in electrochemistry. Under optimal conditions, a linear voltammetric dependence of mirtazapine was obtained for its concentration from 0.5 to 3.5·10 -6 mol/L with a detection limit of 38·10 -9 mol/L for a deposition time of 60 s. Using the cyclic voltammetry technique, the MRT oxidation process was defined as a diffusion-controlled, irreversible reaction with one electron and one proton exchange. The reproducibility of the method was defined as the relative standard deviation value (RSD%) and was equal to 3.15% for 10 repetitions. Furthermore, the proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of mirtazapine in pharmaceutical products and synthetic human urine samples; the recovery obtained was in the range of 94.4 to 104.9%.
