Abstract
Dynamic tests enable assessment of the structure’s technical condition and provide information necessary for bridge maintenance and management. On their basis, the dynamic characteristics of the object are estimated, in particular the logarithmic decrement. In order to avoid incorrect estimation of these characteristics, possibilities of atypical features (such as amplitude beats, outliers, influence of the type of devices and sensors used for measurements) should be taken into account during the obtained signal analysis. This paper presents the main theses of a publication co-authored by the authors of this paper. The bridge dynamic characteristics estimation was carried out using advanced regression models, based on a publicly available solution, of which the authors of this paper are co-authors. In particular, the presented approach enabled efficient and correct estimation of the logarithmic decrement and proved to be insensitive to the bridge structure type, unusual features of the obtained signal and the type of equipment used to acquire data.
