Abstract
The sulphurous waters of the Polish Carpathians reveal a significant variability of all their components. The results oftax-onomic analysis of the data for 125 springs studied suggest this variability is not random but, possibly, results from the presence of random some distinctly different types of water. The classification algorithms applied (particularly the ISODATA algorithm) have allowed the authors to distinguish five groups of springs, whose waters differ in the proportions of their individual ions content. The division is rather sharp by the results of discriminant analysis and the list of respective Mahalanobis distances indicate. The diversification observed is influenced most by HCO{, Na+, Ca + and CI ions, and the structure of the classification observed is shown best in the diagram plotted on the basis of the first two canonical variables that explain 97% of the total variability of the data.
Streszczenie
W pracy przedstawiono próbę chemicznej klasyfikacji wód siarczkowych zarejstrowanych na obszarze polskich Karpat fliszowych. Na podstawie zbioru 125 zbadanych źródeł wyróżniono pięć podzbiorów, różniących się proporcjami udziału różnych składników w całkowitej mineralizacji. Stwierdzono, że jonami wskaźnikowymi, decydującymi o przynależności źródła do określonej grupy, są: HCO3-, Ca 2+, Na+, Cl-.
