Abstract
This paper summarized the recent advances in research of clinker phases by the use vibrational spectroscopy. Synthetic clinker minerals and commercial Portland clinker have been analyzed by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopy. The spectra of synthetic C2S, C3S, C3A and C4AF have been compared to calculated ones and on this basis, detailed assignments of individual bands have been made. Comprehensive band assignment, both in the mid and far infrared ranges, is presented for the first time. We also present results of Raman microscopic imaging of commercial Portland clinker as example of technique yielded phase distribution in mineral sample.
