Abstract
The main purpose of the paper was to compare the amount of heat removed from the face of a cylindrical sensor cooled by three systems: water jet, water spray and air-assisted water spray. The temperature inside the sensor made of Inconel 600 during cooling was measured. The sensor was heated to a temperature of 900°C. The temperature measurements were used as the input data to the computer program identifying the local heat transfer coefficient during cooling based on the inverse method. The temperature field of the axially symmetrical sensor was determined using the finite element method from the heat conduction equation. The obtained results made it possible to select a cooling system that is characterized by the greatest uniformity of energy removed from the surface. The cooling system with the greatest intensity of heat removal from the cooled surface was an air-assisted water spray cooling. This system allowed to increase the amount of energy removed by 400% in relation to the least effective cooling with a water jet.
