Abstract

One of the main tasks of the exergy analysis of real physical and chemical processes is to detect, quantify and calculate exergy losses, which closes the exergy balance equation. Exergy balance equations contain directly measurable variables, which are known with measurement errors and when applied to principal chemical elements lead to the system of nonlinear equations. Usually, the number of equations is greater than the number of unknowns (not directly measured quantities) and because of inevitable measurement errors, the system of equations is not exactly satisfied. The measured quantities must be corrected to satisfy required energy and exergy balances. Such a correction is called data validation and reconciliation. Neglecting this process can lead to incorrect energy and exergy losses calculation. In this paper, the mathematical methods of correction of measurement results based on the least squares method are proposed.
