Abstract
The article presents an analysis of the CaO content in the fly ash from the flue gas treatment in the municipal waste incineration plant (FGT) unmodified and modified. FGT fly ash was subjected to thermal treatment, magnetic separation and grinding in a dry and wet ball mill. At the beginning of the work the genesis of the problem was outlined, which is the constantly growing amount of municipal waste and factors influencing the reduction of the amount of residual waste. The experimental part presents the methodology of laboratory tests carried out to determine the content of calcium oxide in the analyzed ash, along with the description of the experimental setup needed for the experiment. In the further part of this paper, observations from the experiments performed for FGT fly ash are presented, as well as the results of CaO content determination, which allowed to draw conclusions contained in the summary. The modification processes had an impact on calcium oxide content. Ball mill grinding resulted in a large drop of CaO content from 13,5 to about 4,0%, especially wet grinding changed the structure of the material by activation by water and drying of ash particles. The biggest drop in CaO content was to 2.8% and it was observed within 40-hour wet grinding.
