Abstract
Despite the widespread use of sedimentation in the industry and numerous scientific works in this field, all factors affecting the process of sedimentation are still not sufficiently recognized. The sedimentation of fine-grained suspension must often be supported by a flocculation process or by using a multiflux filling. The particles of the solid phase of the suspension after the addition of the flocculant have the tendency to flocculate to form larger agglomerates, and thus their falling speed increases due to the increasing size of the flock. The article describes the method of characterizing particles (flocks) and determined the effect of the techniques used to intensify the sedimentation process by means of flocculation and multiflux filling. The tests were carried out in static conditions. The speed and efficiency of the sedimentation process has been determined. Based on the results, guidelines for the sedimentation of the coal suspension were determined. © SGEM2019.
