Abstract
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership – TTIP agreement is aimed at creating a free trade area between the European Union and the United States. It is designed to liberalize the access to internal markets, facilitate capital flows, and eliminate non-tariff barriers to trade. The agreement should bring benefits to both parties, although the critics of the proposed agreement are afraid that the agreement may contribute to strengthening the position of large corporations at the expense of small indigenous enterprises and limit the powers of governments. From the EU point of view, ere are serious concerns about flooding the European market with cheap products from the United States. The article attempts to analyze the gas market after the entry into force of the TTIP agreement that is currently under negotiation. The structure of imports and exports of natural gas in both the European Union and the United States presented in the paper is broken down into directions, forms of supply, the structure of LNG imports to Europe, the size of the capacities to be installed, and the projected potential of the trade volume.
Streszczenie
Umowa TTIP, czyli Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership to porozumienie mające na celu stworzenie strefy wolnego handlu pomiędzy Unią Europejską i Stanami Zjednoczonymi. Ma ono pozwolić na liberalizację dostępu do wewnętrznych rynków, łatwiejszy przepływ kapitału, a także eliminację barier pozataryfowych we wzajemnym handlu. Umowa ta powinna przynieść korzyści obu stronom, choć krytycy porozumienia obawiają się zwiększenia wpływów dużych korporacji kosztem małych rodzimych firm, a także ograniczenia pozycji rządów państw narodowych. Z punktu widzenia UE istnieje obawa zalania rynku europejskiego tanimi produktami pochodzącymi ze Stanów Zjednoczonych. W artykule podjęto próbę analizy rynku gazu po wejściu w życie negocjowanej obecnie umowy TTIP. Pokazano strukturę importu i eksportu gazu ziemnego w UE i w USA w podziale na kierunki i formy dostaw, strukturę importu LNG do Europy, wielkość planowanych mocy i prognozowany potencjał wolumenu wymiany.
