Abstract
The near-infrared emission of low phonon (805 cm(-1)) germanate glasses from GeO2-Ga2O3-BaO system codoped with 0.7Yb(2)O(3)/(0.07-0.7) Ho2O3 ions has been investigated. Luminescence at 2.1 mu m corresponding to I-5(7)-> I-5(8) transition in holmium was obtained by energy transfer between Yb3+ and Ho3+ ions. The highest value of the luminescence intensity was obtained in glass co-doped with 0.7Yb(2)O(3)/0.15 Ho2O3. Glass co-doped with 0.5Yb(3+)/0.4Tm(3+)/0.05Ho(3+) co-doped glass is characterized by broad emission at 2 mu m (FWHM=343 nm). Analysis of luminescent properties of fabricated germanate core double - clad optical fibers co-doped with 0.7Yb(2)O(3)/0.15 Ho2O3 was also performed.
