Abstract
The paper presents an example of the conversion of a forged steel component into an ADI casting. To enable the conversion to be carried out several variations of ADI and steel 38GSA underwent measurement, mechanical property and abrasion testing. Studies conducted have confirmed the applicability of the selected version of ADI to manufacture the component (a rack, which is part of an agricultural machine). The methodology used during the investigation into conversion material and technology served as a model to develop a system of information and decisionmaking, supporting such operations. The presented system is based on formalism - the logic of plausible reasoning. The study confirmed the validity of the proposed conversion procedure, assisted by the LI IS system based on formalism LPR.
